Cancer Update

James is finally undergoing his second whole body scan. It was supposed to be in October, but between his schedule and some doctor issues, it never happened. He had his thyrogen injections on Monday and Tuesday to make him hypothyroid, and yesterday, he took his 5 millicuries of radiation in a pill. Friday, he'll have the actual scan. The blood test came back free of markers last month so that's some good news we've already had. If this scan is clean, he'll be considered cancer-free, and he won't have another for 5 years or so. He'll just have blood tests and maybe ultrasounds to check on the off-years. This cancer is one that has just as much of a chance of coming back 20 years down the road as it does 5 years down the road, but at least it's usually very slow-growing and easy to treat.
