Science at our house

It seems that bugs flock to our house. I'm not sure if it's because we're frequently outside and just happen to see them or if there's something particularly enchanting about our house, but it seems we have more bugs and more unusual bugs than any of our neighbors.

Kait went outside a few days ago and happened to notice a fairly large praying mantis on our bush. He had caught a bee that had been attracted by a nearby flower, and he was clutching the bee tightly in his front legs. I need to learn how to focus manually - it focused on the rear of the mantis instead of the face and the bee. I can see why bugs are used in horror movies sometimes. This guy would look straight at us with his creepy little eyes, and it made me very uncomfortable. Imagine if he was giant-sized!

We also took a movie of him chowing down on said bee.

That thing is freaking enormous!!!

I love that I can hear Kait snapping millions of photos of the praying mantis in the background of the video. At least, I think that's what it was. She makes me laugh.
