Pysanky

Two of my friends introduced me to Pysanky, the art of Ukrainian eggs, a while back. Last night, we got together to give it another try. I was intrigued by the "40 triangles" design, symboling the 40 days of Lent. I penciled in two eggs before our session, but after one, I wasn't up for another so I ended up with one egg. I'm really happy with how it turned out, but I wish that I would have thought to take my camera so I could show you the ones the other ladies did. Some of the colors and designs they had were just gorgeous.

I'm thinking of getting a kit with authentic dyes and tools. It's very relaxing!

Unfortunately, my camera is not focusing properly this morning, and I can't take the time to try to figure out what's wrong. So, the pictures are a little blurry!

That is gorgeous! How very cool that you've learned this art. Is the egg drained before you decorate it?

Yes, the egg is drained. That way you can keep them without them spoiling!
