Over two years ago, I signed up to be on the mailing list for the group at our church that goes to pray at a local abortion "clinic." I was nearly due with Felicity at the time, and I remember thinking it might be a while before I actually joined them. Finally, a couple of months ago and again in November, I went along. They're getting smarter about building these places, and they have this one set up so that there's no public property near the actual place where abortions take place. We stand up on the main road where the cars turn in, hold signs, and pray. And while I think praying there is a very good thing, when I'm standing there, I can't help but feel like there's more that I should be doing. Many times these girls are aborting because of lack of support and resources, not just because they don't want the child. That is a tragedy.
I've decided to go visit our local pregnancy center after the new year to see if there's anything that I can do to help. Meanwhile, I saw Felicity's infant car seat in the closet, and I remembered that it will expire at the end of December 2009. (Side note: We got a fantastic clearance deal on the car seat/stroller combo, but it was because the expiration date was not too far off.) I will not be using it before then so I contacted Catholic Charities. We will be meeting up with the case worker this afternoon to hand off the car seat. She has a client going into the hospital to have a baby with no car seat to bring baby home in. As I cleaned up a few spots on the seat, I'd have to say that I was almost giddy thinking about a new little baby being nestled inside it having a safe place to ride home, and I pray that his or her life will be blessed. And may God bless his or her mother for choosing to give the gift of life to her child this Christmas.

I'm glad that you're excited about being in the giving spirit this holiday. Although, I know that you are a giving person year round!
Not being the advocate you are on this particular issue, I still love that you are so devoted to your cause and to people in general. What a great example to K, J, and F.
God bless you this Christmas, Kelli. You are blessing others. It's good!
it would've been justifiable in the world's eyes if you hadn't taken the next step, being busy with your 3 kids, but you did and you acted in love.
you are a wonderful person, Kelli :)
